International Baccalaureate ethos
Learning how to learn
We take students out of the classroom and teach them the value of experiential learning in the outdoors, learning for themselves and as a team, making mistakes and learning from their experience
Developing a strong sense of identity
We give students the freedom and guidance to assume the roles needed on an expedition ( leader, accountant, cooks, transport and environmental officers etc.). In assuming these roles they learn more about their own strengths and weaknesses within teams.
Asking challenging questions
We encourage students to think for themselves, and to challenge and their peers to do things differently.
Communicating with and understanding people from other cultures
The nature of a World Challenge expedition (i.e. not a package tour) enables students to interact with and communicate with people from cultures very different to their own, every day of an expedition
