Tennis Tryout FAQ
- Does my child need to submit an AISD Physical packet to participate?
- YES!!! And a Covid waiver. Both must be on file with the Athletics office before any child can participate in tryouts, practices or matches. The forms can be found here.
- When are Tryouts?:
- Girls: March 8th and 9th 4:00 – 5:00
- Boys: March 10th and 11th 4:00 – 5:00
- Parent Meeting: Thursday, March 11th @ 5:30
- Will there be cuts?
- No. The top 10 Girls and top 10 Boys (7th and 8th grade combined) will go to all matches (although only six players will play in the end-of-season tournament), and anyone ranked 11 or below will be invited to only some of the matches
- What is the practice schedule?
- Please note that the schedule is tentative. I have yet to receive the match schedule.
- Mondays: Top 10 Girls
- Tuesdays: Top 10 Boys or Match
- Wednesdays: Top 10 Boys or Match
- Thursdays: Top 6 Boys and Top 6 Girls
- Fridays: 7 and below Boys and Girls
- What if my child can’t make all the practice days?
- As long as they can come to at least one practice a week, they are eligible to play in the match. Please let Coach Reed know if your child will miss a practice.
- Can 6th graders participate in Tennis?
- Unfortunately no, UIL only allows 7th and 8th graders to participate.
- Does my child have to be in Athletics class to be on the team?
- No. Your child can come to the after-school practices.
- Will my child be able to challenge to move up in the rankings?
- Yes, to an extent. The first few weeks will include challenge matches during practice. I reserve the right to choose doubles teams for the end-of-year tournament based on what I believe will benefit the team the most, NOT simply according to rank.
- What is the match schedule?
- The district has not set the schedule yet. Check this page for updates.
- Will we need to pay for T-shirts?
