Through labs, projects, and understanding checks, students learn a variety of scientific content. The goal is for our IB science students “to understand and appreciate science and its implications, develop skills to design and perform investigations, evaluate evidence and reach conclusions, and build an awareness of the need to effectively collaborate and communicate” (IB MYP Sciences Guide). Topics of study include:

6th grade

the periodic table, properties of matter, physics, Earth’s energy resources, biology, geology, astronomy, and health and sexuality.

7th grade

biology, microbiology, ecology, and human health and sexuality.

8th grade

astronomy; the Earth, sun, and moon relationship; weather systems; geology, ecology, chemistry, physics, and human health and sexuality.
