Golf at Murchison is a “club” this is not an instructional class, and all skill levels are welcome! We do not require that golfers attend Murchison MS or other AISD schools. All middle school students are welcome to join our club. Athletic Physicals are not required.
Murchison Middle School is in vertical alignment with Anderson HS, so this is a great opportunity to work with our Sponsor, Coach Williamson, who is a Coach for the Award-winning Anderson High School teams!
Parents
Parents volunteer on the team committees to support every golfer is essential to the team’s success. Parents will be asked to volunteer for tournaments. An adult must accompany each four-person team during tournaments. The accompanying adult will be assigned a group to assist with maintaining the pace of play, supporting the group with tournament rules, and recording scores accurately.
Team Dues
2022-2023 SY the dues are $100.00 per golfer. Dues cover administration, Golf clinics, access to TopGolf practice after school, and an end-of-year party/challenge.
Tournaments
In partnership with other AISD Middle Schools, we will be co-hosting and participating in non-UIL 9-hole tournaments. Sixth-grade students may not participate in competitive events. A uniform is required for tournament play. Tournament Fees are in addition to this, and parents should budget $60 per tournament (based on 2020/2021 fees, subject to course fee changes).
Practices
Practice is “on your own.” The club parents are encouraged to plan casual outings or practice opportunities with local golf courses or facilities. It is encouraged that all golfers are invited to such practices to develop camaraderie and skills. All golfers are encouraged to play golf. Participating in golf camps or securing private instruction is at the parent’s discretion.
Equipment
Parents are responsible for providing all equipment. AISD and MMS do not offer this. However, we accept donations from our community and may have a set. Please only purchase a new set of clubs once you check in with Mrs. Williamson.
Uniform
Parents are responsible for Uniforms. Uniforms consist of a team shirt ($35), black pant/shorts with a belt or black golf skirt, a Team hat ($20), and athletic shoes with socks. Contact Coach Williamson for uniform needs.
Students should wear BLACK bottoms: skirts, shorts or pants. Skirts and shorts must meet golf attire lengths. During tournament play, golfers should wear hats and belts at all times.
Transportation
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.
Community Service
All golfers support our community service projects. These events will be outside the designated school hours. Events may include community events in partnership with the MMS Community and AHS golf team or at a local golf course. Parents must provide transportation.
Cost Breakdown
$100 annual dues, $35 Golf Shirt, $20 Golf Cap, $60/Tournament.
