Murchison Transition Camp

Hello 6th grade Matadors!

We hope you will join us at Matador Transition Camp. Register now for ONE session that fits your summer calendar and join us! All registration closes July 15, and there will be no changes after that date.

Who can attend?

(NOTE: Transition Camp is for students only, not parents.)

  • Incoming 6th graders (if you are a 5th grader now)
  • 7th or 8th graders who will be new to Murchison MS .

How can you sign up your student?

Go to the Murchison webpage to the Transition Camp  link and sign up for ONE session.

Why should your student attend?

It is an opportunity for students new to Murchison to meet new friends, meet teachers, tour the campus, learn about the campus goals and expectations, and ask questions.

Who can you contact with questions?

Chara Harris ( Principal)chara.harris@austinisd.org

Frequently asked questions: (FAQs):

Will there be transportation, food, or a nurse?

No transportation will be provided. Students must bring their own healthy snack and a refillable water bottle. There will be no nurse available.

What if our summer plans change and our student cannot attend either session?

If you already registered your student, send an email before July 15 to Ms. Harris, and we will remove your student’s registration. NOTE: MMS PTA will be hosting Matador Days where campus tours and information will be available. PTA will post those dates later this summer. This is an alternative for your student if he/she cannot make it to Transition Camp.

What if we signed up for a session but need to switch to the other date?

Send an email to Ms. Carter and Ms. Harris, and we will make the change, but we must receive your request BEFORE July 15.

Can my student just show up and attend without registering?

No. All students must be registered in advance so that we can safely ensure enough staff and space to serve all students.

What should my student bring?

A healthy snack and a refillable water bottle. No large backpacks and no electronics are permitted. Cell phones must remain in pockets or small bags until 12:30 p.m.
