Individuals and Societies

Students study and learn history and social studies through inquiry-driven projects. we want our IB Individuals and Societies students to “appreciate human and environmental commonalities and diversity, understand the interactions and interdependence of individuals, societies and the environment, and identify and develop concern for the well-being of human communities and the natural environment” (IB Individuals and societies guide). The different grade level topics are:

6th grade – World Cultures

geography, Southwest Asia and North Africa, Sub-saharan Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas

7th grade – Texas History

government, exploration and colonization, the Texas Revolution, Reconstruction, Economic and Social Changes, and Texas in the 20th and 21st centuries

8th grade – US History

colonization, colonial regions, the American War for Independence, Government, Political Growth, Geographic Expansion, Civil War, Reconstruction, and Historical Patterns
